Two Way Baby Monitor Different Types

Different Types of Baby Monitors

It has been said that after our health, our children are our most valuable "possessions". If it were possible to watch over them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, I am sure many parents would. This is especially true when it comes to babies since they are dependent on their parents for everything. But parents are only human and as such, we get tired and need rest from time to time. And what better way to rest than away from the baby and in your own space or spending time with the rest of your family. This is where baby monitors come in handy. With these devices, you will still be able to monitor your baby even if you are in another room.

What Are Baby Monitors?
Basically, a baby monitor, also known as a baby alarm, is a device that can be used to monitor your children or babies even if they are located in a different room. It is a simple transmitter and receiver system that can be used to remotely listen for sound made by your kids and babies. A transmitter with a microphone is placed in the baby's room close to the baby). Another device with a receiver and speakers can be carried by you, the parents, or the baby sitter, or anyone else. So you can keep track of your baby even if you are doing something else.

Types of Baby Monitors
Baby monitors have evolved over the years. From the simple transmitter and receiver device, different baby monitors have been developed. Currently, there are four major types of baby monitors: audio (one or two way), video and sensor.

Audio baby monitors The first generation was the one way monitor. This is the basic type of monitor. It features a one way transmitter with a microphone. They send the baby sounds directly to the parent. The two way baby monitor is the next generation of one way monitors. Whereas one-way monitors basically only transmit sound through a single channel, a two-way baby monitor can allow parents to talk back to their child with their own portable transmitter. Parents who have children with separation anxiety often prefer this type of monitor, as hearing a familiar voice could usually calm the child. There are even some devices that will let you send commands to the baby’s device to play different music to help calm them back to sleep.

Video baby monitors use video to show what is going on with your baby. They incorporate the technology used by webcams in computers. A camera is installed along with the simple transmitter and microphone. The receiver has both speakers and an LCD screen. Video baby monitors have also taken advantage of the current technology of the Internet. With the video baby monitor installed in the room, parents can access the cameras and view the conditions of their babies even when they are at the office. All they need is a computer with Internet access and voila! Instant video feed direct from the baby’s room.

Sensor monitors are devices that help detect baby movement...or in this case non movement. These set of an alarm if the sensor pad placed under the baby's mattress/pillow or blanket registers no movement for 20+ seconds.

All these monitors can either be direct wired or wireless. The wireless devices are more portable and thus likely to be more convenient for active parents as long as they are in range. The only drawback with wireless is that they are more affected by interference than wired devices.
