Two Way Baby Monitor Checklist

Qualities of a Good Baby Monitor

A one way or two way baby monitor is a wonder gadget for many busy parents. They not only give parents more time for themselves, or to work, but most especially, they give them the opportunity to provide for the safety of their children even when they are not with them.
However, with the many different versions available, new parents may find it puzzling to choose which monitor would be the best purchase for their budget. And so, whatever type of monitor you want to purchase –whether audio, video, one way or two way, digital or analog- here are a few qualities that you should look for in a good monitoring device.

What to Look For in a Baby Monitor
Clarity of the Reception (whether audio or video) . Minimal static is always a good quality for a baby monitor. This allows you to clearly hear or see the activities of the child better. You may have to buy it first to really try this out in your home.

A good monitor must always be handy. A compact and portable monitor will easily provide you with comfort as you carry it around. It will make it easier for you to keep an eye on the child while working.

A visual (light) alarm that activates whenever it picks up sound is a good feature. This becomes very useful should you be watching television, vacuuming or other noisy activities.. This will alert you if the baby is making noise.

A low battery light for the receiver. This prevents the battery running down without you knowing. Murphy's law could kick in and your monitor won't work the one time your baby is in distress and needs your help.

The range of the device must be considered. The bigger the house the bigger range is required. In a smaller house (or in multi units) a device with a bigger range can actually work against you as it will mean you pick up interference from the many other devices other people are using. If you have a small house buy only as much range as you need. Bigger is not better in that case.

The bandwidth is important You want to be able to move to a frequency with minimal interference. Which may change over time. Go with as broad a bandwidth as your budget will allow.

Considering Your Needs
Knowing what to look for in a good baby monitor is one thing, but remember to choose those features that would fit with the way you live so that you can look after your child with minimal disruption. Budget is also very important. There are monitors that are priced to suit every budget but clearly the more bells and whistles you add the more the price tag will rise.

Baby monitors are a wonderful help for parents today. The process of choosing may be more complicated than people think but they key is to stick with the basics that make the monitor effective in keeping your child safe.
